I'm your Opheliac, my stockings prove my virtue...

Bit of an uphill climb today.

Grey skies, wet earth, chill rain, a looming deadline, a train wreck of a story, and an empty space where a friend had been all combine to make the day a bit blue.

It's manifesting as an adrenal crash more than anything else -- which is rough, because the only things that help in adrenal recovery are directly counter to what usually helps in depression recovery. Adrenals run on salt, fat, and sleep, whereas the best things for depression are exercize, healthy eating, and mental stimulation. I've taken about half of my vitamins, and my stomach is telling me that the other half really ought to not be put into my mouth, lest I bring up the lot. I'm hoping that if I can just keep them down for awhile longer, the b complex will start to work on my poor, beleagured adrenal gland, and I'll summon up something resembling the ghost of enthusiasm for sorting out the abortive mess that is this story.

Nah. As usual, I'm overstating the case. The story's not a wreck, it's just not on its feet and moving, is all. The beginning I thought I had stalls out in the second scene, which pretty much says outright that it's not a sound beginning. I need to start somewhere else... probably farther into the outline narrative. I just don't know quite where, is all. I'm going to try starting with the pr0n today, and see if that can't get it on its feet. At this point, I don't have a lot to lose by trying.

On the good side, we have begun to pick up the replacement AV components at last, and to move back into the finished rooms downstairs. The TV is set up in place now, and thanks to Naomi's help we've got the last phase of the molding well underway. We're going to have to drive out to Boston's Ikea in order to pick up our bookcases -- gas for the trip is around $50, but delivery? over $300. How the hell does THAT math add up? -- and that's looking like next weekend maybe, so we'll get to put Dominus' new car through her official shakedown cruise then.

Speaking of which, we'll be picking up the New Car tonight. Cobalt's countdown to entropy will officially be Not Our Porblem as of tonight. No idea what the new car will be called, but thanks to this buyer's economy we're going to be getting it at a far better price than we'd expected, or had reason to hope. The interest rate is ridiculously low, and they shipped the exact car Dominus wanted from Cali without asking us to cover the shipping costs. I think it's safe to say that they REALLY wanted to sell us this car. I think it's also safe to say that we REALLY needed them to want to sell us this car. I personally think Cobalt has about three more starts left in her, and the only reason she's hung on this long is out of sheer, obsessively loyal love for Dominus.

Hopefully that love will keep her together until after the trade-in guy goes over her.
