It's the storm, not you, that's bound to blow away...

So, upon final examination, Guardian Angels is a Novelette, coming in at 9500 words or so once the betae's recommendations were plugged in. It would need to be about twice as long to qualify as a Novella, and about five times that to qualify as a novel. It's ironic, looking at those numbers, to realize that most of what I've written for HP fanfic has been technically novel length. I'm used to thinking of novels as 80,000 words or more, but apparently you can call it a novel starting at 40,000. At least that's what SFWA says. So I wonder what you have to call it at 200,000? I know, I know; trilogy. *Sigh*

What can I say? I write long.

Anyhow. I mark this printing because as of today, I FINALLY have something worth sending out again. That's an accomplishment, and I mean to celebrate it. I'd be doing the podcast today, only the thumping, hammering, drilling, and sawing going on downstairs would make the listening experience kind of wonky, IMHO.

Last night, I got musepounced, and sat up past my bedtime outlining something for Circlet Press's latest story-call. Tenative title is El Dorado Road, but I'm sure something better will roll along as I work it over. Roughly, it's descended from Picture of Dorian Grey, and Sunset Strip, with pr0nsauce on top, though that's really not telling much of the key plot. It really grabbed my attention last night though, and I'm still kind of excited at the prospect. I'll need to wait until after the workmen leave to summon up the concentration to really work on it though. And hopefully, I'll manage to keep this thing under 7500 though. I'm not going to pre-brake myself, or try to write to a wordcount limit, but it would be nice if the publication I'm intending the story for could actually print the silly thing, eh?

And now? Now it's time for lunch!
