There were times when I could have murdered her, but you know, I would hate anything to
Y HALLO THAR, GALLBLADER!
*Sporks!*
What? It started this fight. It's got it coming.
So for the foreseeable, I'm back on a diet of apples, rice, toast, and bananas.
I started to get the persistent ache under the right shoulderblade last night, but it's been so long since I've been to chiro, I totally misdiagnosed it.
I'm starting to think that, while my attacks are related to fat intake, it's not so cut and dried as that. I think they're directly connected to rancid fats and oils, because in a bag of trail mix, it's hell of easy for a couple of sunflower seeds to be a bit off, but still slip under the radar of the rest, and I know at least a couple of my attacks were related to vitamin e tablets toward the bottom of the bottle.
Clearly, I've not bothered to bring up the notion with my doctor... :/
So I'm scaling back the assault today, in favour of shaking this off promptly.
House update: At our contractor's behest, we sidestepped the insurance adjustor, and phoned our insurance AGENT, who was horrified at the number the adjustor tried to fob off on us, especially when he found out the guy hadn't even come to see t. He said, in as many words, that we were to keep him in the loop as things went forward, because he could pull for us on the inside. He also sorted out the little *ahem* mailing issue that had our first cheque going, not where they mail the bills every month without fail, but to the house we haven't lived in for nearly five years now.
So Dominus phoned the adjustor, and told him that we'd got our contractor's bid, and it was more than his estimate by a lot.
He said, "Well, how much more?"
Dominus said "14,000"
Then crickets chirped for a few seconds.
Then the adjustor said, "I, um, think we'll need to get someone out there to see the damage in person..."
Dominus did NOT say "Oh gee, ya THINK?"
Dominus also did not say "Bout damned TIME, ya moron!"
Instead, Dominus said, "Okay, that's fine by me."
So now we're all on hold until next Thursday, when the assessor can stop hyperventilating for long enough to make it out.
The aggravating thing is, the contractor could start today, if he only WE were ready.
*HeadDESK!*
So. A general question for my flist:
I'd like to find a source for cheap vinyl tubs to use for temporary storage for the books while the library is being demolished. I could, of course, buy or scrounge cardboard boxes, but I don't like the waste, and I'm already concerned about mold, so the last thing I want to do is facilitate a repeat of the grey, furry, smelly problems that have plagued us since Denton. And too, once the library has been rebuilt, we'll be able to use the tubs for storage in the attic and basement. So it's an investment much better than cardboard could be.
We just need to find them on the cheap, is all.
Any suggestions?
And for today's silver lining: We have figured out that we have more slack on coming up with the deductible than we'd thought at first. The deductible comes off the back end of the process, not the front. And from the way things are looking right now, that's several months down the road. So I'll have a bit more breathing room to get some plans launched in time to drum up the shortfall. Thought I'll still probably take the opportunity to cull some of my ridiculously large fabric horde, and place some of my artwork stack with loving homes as well.
Also, and this is an even brighter gleam than the other, this has really shown what a wonderful community LJ is. How sympathetic and supportive and kind. I truly treasure it, and every one of you!
