Mercury Retrograde alert!

For those of you who drive cars, own small things that can be misplaced, and mechanical devices that you use to communicate with other people... and who speak to other people, this stroppy little planet's going arse-to-front will effect you.

As of today, January 11th, Mercury's turned retrograde in Aquarius. It will continue to go backward until the feast of Brighid, on February 1st, but some people will continue to feel its shadow effect until Valentine's day, on February 14th, which is when Mercury will pass the point at which it turned today.

Here's the Astrologycom page on this year's retrogrades. If you scroll down the page, you'll see the specifics for this one in Aquarius, and a few clues as to what to watch out for this time. To me, it looks like topics of change, ideology, and ambition are going to be the real minefields this time -- just in time for the inauguration, too. Such fun...

Anyhow. When you drive, be careful, and try to pay more attention to your driving than to anything else on your mind.
When you talk to folks, try not to take things personally, and bear in mind that things might seem a bit distorted just now.
When your computer or phone starts freaking out at you, don't throw it against the wall, or out the window -- chances are good the glitch will clear up by mid-february.
And now would be a very good time to become absolutely anal about putting things like your keys, your thumb drive, and your wallet down in exactly the same place every time, so that when you go losing things, it won't be the really important ones.

Oh, and just because we're special? This year we get FOUR fecking retrograde cycles. It's like a party, only with social trauma instead of cake and punch! Whee!

And for today's edition of "Well DUH," theatre...

Your result for The Sorting Hat Test...

Slytherin

You scored 16% Order/Chaos, and 37% Moral/Rational

Chaotic Rationality. You don't think much of rules and restrictions; you look at things from an analytical perspective and probably think morality is relative to some extent. Your strength lies in being able to make your own judgments and form your own strategies uninhibited by others; your weakness lies in the wariness other people may have of you, perceiving you as dangerous.

You join people like Theodore Nott, Severus Snape, and Horace Slughorn.

The 4-grid I used to determine this is as follows:

Chaotic Orderly
Moral Gryffindor Hufflepuff
Rational Slytherin Ravenclaw

I honestly wonder why I take these things anymore. I always wind up Slytherin when I answer honestly...

In other news, I was attacked by the ick today, and get much done at all. Five days off the happybrainmeds -- long story, and an extension of one I told just recently, so I'll not go into it again, -- and a sidelong swipe of the pastrami-sammich-done-me-wrong blues, made for a bit of a low hover today. I didn't get the work done on [info]ter369's memory-day fic, due mostly to the leaking out of my brain from my ears, so that means I'll wind up doing (and posting,) it tomorrow, may the grammarians forgive my temerity and not visit the wrath of a thousand white hot, fiery edit marks upon me. I also wound up phoning out of a sewing class today, on account of aforementioned brain-leakage... I'm hoping it's something I'll be able to pick up later, but taken along with the snow last night, I simply was NOT in any condition to have my fingers near mechanized sharp things today.

Hrm. Have just noticed I'm whinging. Pardon me whilst I kick my arse out of it.

Positive note for the post: Guardian Angels is on FIRE, guys! I finished the first scene of the rewrite yesterday, and passed it off do Dominus to read, and he was actually excited about it. Changing the narrative POV was absolutely the right choice to make, and it's given what was a really great, thought-provoking concept, not only a heart, but a soul, a stomach, and a throat to scream with. It's become scary now, and I'm in love with it all over again.

I'll be reading the re-written version of this ten year old story at Arisia. When I'm not so sleepy and error-prone, I'll post my schedule, so those of you with an interest can make time to come and hear it. Tomorrow, I spect.
For tonight, I must muck out the kitty stalls before I get to go fall over.
